Avery and his mom came into my studio last fall on a semi overcast day and just wanted a couple simple senior shots. I totally understood where they were coming from as I’ve shot with several other young men before from high schools, and unlike the gals who all want to wear five different outfits, change their hair style and make up, and dance in the sun; most of these young men just want a couple fun shots for the year book and then for themselves! I had the great opportunity to work with Sarah Giggar, amazing make up artist from New York, while she was visiting family for the holiday in Missoula. She coordinated a 1930′s styled shoot with several local vendors. My studio mate, Maureen Roy, was actually the gal who had the contact with Sarah, and was to be the main photographer for the shoot but on the day of, she decided to pump out the new lighting skills she’d learn from

Last year I decided to pull out the camera and take some photos for the MBN Symposium because I’ve not seen many photos of the past events. I guess you can say I was like their ‘unofficial’ photographer for the day. Thought I’d share some here from last year’s symposium when Nan Gardetto was our guest speaker. Boy was her story inspiring; I just only hope that in the next 10 years I don’t have to work as hard and still make a living doing what I love…
